New Processor Allocation System

Balancing the needs of all stakeholders in the chicken industry in Ontario is an ongoing objective for CFO.

The Association of Ontario Chicken Processors, the Ontario Independent Poultry Processors and CFO have worked together to develop a new processor allocation system for chicken grown in Ontario. The key changes allow more flexibility for processors and producers, while maintaining the underlying principles of the supply management system.

Quota Period A-72 is the first period of the new system. The new regulations, policies and forms are now available by clicking on the appropriate links to the left. You may review each document online, or print a paper copy for your records. If for whatever reason you cannot access the online versions, you may contact the receptionist at CFO to request a printed package at 905-637-0025 ext.0 (or fax at 905-637-3464). You will be asked for your mailing address, and producer number or processing company name (as appropriate), and will receive a paper copy
by return mail.

Additional information to help you gain a better understanding of the new system is also available. Click on the links to the left to review the Introductory Guide, Question and Answer document, or Producer and Processor Scenarios documents (note: these materials were previously mailed to producers and processors).

You are also welcome to view key background documents that set the stage for negotiating the new system.  In preparation for those negotiations, the CFO Board felt it was critical to have a full understanding of the issues and options of any new allocation system for chicken in Ontario.  To that end, the Board commissioned the George Morris Centre and the JRG Consulting Group to provide an independent perspective to the allocation system in Ontario. The George Morris Centre paper took a more theoretical look at competition at the farm product procurement level, while the JRG Consulting Group paper examined past allocation systems and potential new systems.
