THE OFFSAP AUDIT CYCLE is changing!
The Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC) have implemented changes to the frequency requirements for OFFSAP auditing.
Previously, a full, on-farm audit was to be conducted once every 3 years. We will now be moving to a 7 year cycle, as shown.
In order to place all CFO farms into the appropriate place in the audit cycle, an assessment was done based on the date of each farm’s initial audit. Going forward, farmers can anticipate their annual OFFSAP audit may be conducted at approximately the same time each year.
The new audit cycle requires one of the following audit types to take place:
Full Audit: Conducted on-farm, a CFO auditor will complete a tour of all production barns, interior and exterior, to observe compliance with the OFFSAP implementation requirements. OFFSAP records will be reviewed, including all GPPs, CCPs, the annual SOPs and all other supporting documentation.
Partial Audit: Conducted on-farm, a CFO auditor will complete a review of various selected sections of the full audit. Additionally, any Corrective Action Requests identified during the previous on-farm audit will also be reviewed.
Records Assessment: Conducted via mail-in checklist, the farmer will be required to send in various crop records for evaluation by a CFO auditor.
Self-Declaration: Conducted via mail-in checklist, the farmer will be requested to complete a declaration stating they have continued to implement OFFSAP on-farm. A CFO auditor will perform a review of the information submitted.

*Random Audit: Conducted on-farm, a CFO auditor will complete the partial audit process. Farms undergoing a Records Assessment or a
Self-Declaration in any given year may be subject to a random audit.
