Farmer and Processor Contracting

Balancing the needs of all stakeholders in the chicken industry in Ontario is an ongoing objective for CFO.

The Association of Ontario Chicken Processors, the Ontario Independent Poultry Processors and CFO have worked together to develop a processor allocation system for chicken grown in Ontario. This system, which began in Quota Period A-72, allows flexibility for processors and producers, while maintaining the underlying principles of the supply management system.

Click on the links to the left to access information to help you gain a better understanding of the system. An Introductory Guide, a Question and Answer document a Producer and Processor Scenarios documents and sample forms are all included for your information.

You are also welcome to view key background documents that set the stage for negotiating this system.  In preparation for those negotiations, the CFO Board felt it was critical to have a full understanding of the issues and options of any new allocation system for chicken in Ontario.  To that end, the Board commissioned the George Morris Centre and the JRG Consulting Group to provide an independent perspective to the allocation system in Ontario. The George Morris Centre paper took a more theoretical look at competition at the farm product procurement level, while the JRG Consulting Group paper examined past allocation systems and potential new systems.
